all of the mbta red line trains are full of ibm ads sporting the expression "peace, love, linux" and donning the penguin icon. is it hegemony or is it a culture thing?

on the other hand, as of last night, i have mastered the art of !!making really good steak!! here's how:
  1. buy steak
  2. take home
  3. (this is the important step) marinate in: garlic, medium salsa, jalapeno peppers, juice from the jar of jalapeno peppers (what were you going to do with it otherwise?)
  4. fry that up until light gray on the edges, leave red in the center
  5. eat it yo
it's really good, trust me.

i have mastered the art of creating and consuming dinner within twenty minutes. this is not only indicative of my prowess at cooking [ cough, cough ], but also of my inability to relax. eh well.

For the last two days my friends and I have been playing the elementary school game where you make your thumb and forefinger in a circle and try to get people to look at it. If they look at it, then you get to hit them. If they stick their finger in your hole without looking at it, they get to punch you. If you grab their finger, you get to punch them. Etc., etc. We've gotten really creative (pointing at things, faking injuries, doing it while giving presentations in class), and the sad part is, that it really has caught on. Pretty soon all of Asia will be playing the game. Boy, I feel like I'm 8 again.

i think when i grow up either i will do geeky computer stuff or i will convince random people to give me lots of money. i seem to be fairly good at both.

the fact that i will take over the world is bothering me as of late. i suppose i look forward to doing just that, so that i may fix a lot of fcuked up things, but i'm afraid that when i do take over the world, i'll become preoccupied with minutiae rather than looking at the big picture. i fear this because i see how i care to the stove in the manor. i clean it once or twice a day. it's clear that no one cares whether the stove is clean except me. i wake up every morning and clean the stovetop if it's dirty. it usually isn't because i would have cleaned it the night before. i worry that by focussing such energy on cleaning the stove i neglect to vacuum or [ supposedly more importantly ] tend to myself. i need to resolve this preoccupation with details before i take over the world. otherwise, the streets of the world will be clean when the children of the world are hungry, and if anything i think it should be the other way around.

On Saturday night, my friend Dena and I went out to Kay's Bistro with my other friend Hannah and her swedish boyfriend, Fredrik. It is the place to go: It is in the gay-tolerant section of Munich, which was cool. Every few weeks it completely changes it's theme, so right now it's all decked out in a Great Britain theme. the walls are covered with Laura Ashley fabircs and the ceiling is covered with glowing chains of star lights. the lights are covered with red fabric too. The food was really yummy too, and what was great was how it was an extremely vegetarian-friendly restaurant. SO the next time you're in Munich...eat there!! Bitte :)

last night's dmb show, my twelfth, was made especially amusing by a fine young lady named Becky who had the joy of sitting next to me. I met Becky in the middle of the third song [ Granny ]; she was quite indiscreet in mentioning that she noticed that {a} i know all the words to every song that had yet been played, {b} i was drawing her to me with professional tongue work and {c} i was smiling a lot. i made my first mistake when i winked at her and did the seductive tongue thing [ you know... that one ]. i think she knew i was just toying with her, but, hell, she was toying with me: that's fair game, right?

so the fine young Becky was extremely drunk, which didn't bother me in the slightest, and was exercising the ability to do stupid things with the excuse of her insobriety. like when she got behind me and stood up on my chair and started grinding into me. i looked over to barbara and grinned. [ this stuff doesn't happen too often to me. however, if you'd like to 'pull a Becky,' offer to seduce me and i'll let you try. ok, so let might not be the most proper word, but i'm up for anything. try me. O:-) ]

Becky then tried to seduce the fine blokes behind me [ i felt not bad ], but had little luck doing so [ i felt proud ]. so she went back to the girls with whom she came. they congregated around her, and she kneeled down. curious louis looked over, only to see Becky without pants. she was taking out cigarettes and a couple joints, which she had stealthily hidden somewhere. i'm usually amused by people not wearing pants, and this was no exception. soon enough, the pants came back on and the cigarettes came out. i was neither ecstatic nor melancholy.

i then focussed on such matters at hand as getting down and singing for a bit, until the seductive becky lured me to her side with a beckoning finger and pleading look to boot. having pulled out a joint but not wanting to share with the blokes behind us who had refused her, she handed it to me and whispered in my ear not to pass it on. naïve would be i to protest. free hit number one became number two became number three. this all after a little fun in the parking lot before hand. duuuuuuuude.

to be honest, that was the boot of the excitement for me, besides of course the music and spectacular lighting. while 'two step' as a closer was not quite as crazy as that of monday, it certainly was fun. by that time, the various substances i had consumed were going their own ways, and becky et al were more stupefied than obnoxious and flirtatious. good times nonetheless. my eyes are still bloodshot.

Hello All, I am finnally almost done with school. I just have 6 exams left. I can't wait for this schoolyear to be over. In other great news I received my mp3-cd player today that I ordered from Amazon.com. It is a Rio Volt, and I can fit a good 160 songs to a disk. Louis would interject that Mp3s are a disgrace, and are not worth the listening because of the severe loss of quality; he has a point, but It is still really cool. It plays regular CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and WMA and Mp3s burned as data. It loads the songs into memory, and so it is skip-proof too. I am just giddy about it. In other news I started my own blog (can't remember if Ive posted that yet.

So I am about halfway done with this whole Germany thing....I'm defintely still having fun and can actually carry on a real conversation in German now. Yet, at times I am getting frustrated because I don't feel like I can really be myself. I don't always have the right vocabulary or my ideas aresodifferent from the others' ideas that sometimes it makes me wonder...Anway the other hand, today is really sunny and warm :)

The end cannot get any harder....it would be absolutely impossible. If just one good or nice gesture would occur it would be so absolutely wonderful. Everyone is "slightly" on edge....and if I have one more concert....uuugh. Actually I have two....my fingers are cut and hurt from sorting sooo much music and I have not even made a dent.....that is because I do not have Louis as a librarian anymore...lol:-) I have 500 grades due and have not started on any of them....ohh fun. I live on the ocean and have not been home to enjoy it at all. Does it sound like I am b*&^ing?....oh, I am.....however.....I have to keep saying to myself.....Key West Key West Key West Key West......for the whole summer....they say that about teachers.....well you get the WHOLE summer off.....and I say DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!!!

In about 10 days I will be on my way to Beijing, China. I would like to think that it's up there with Germany, but I guess it's up to you to decide that. I'm not quite as hyper as Smarples is at the moment, but I am in the place between uncontrollable hiccupping and tearing off articles of my clothing one by one... I am now exhausted from my day of laying around and talking to my dog and must go out with friends. Wish me luck.

Yayayayay!!! Emily, I'm happy (ecstatic, even) to see that you can post from Alemania!!! Hooray!!! I hope you're having a great (sketchariffic, even) time there. I can't wait until you get home (so much so, in fact, that I wet my pants every hour on the hour in anticipation of your return, even), so we can jam, etc. Have fun everyone, and I'll hopefully see all of you soon. *purr* (Post script, I have decided to become a flirt.)

Did I ever tell you how much I love to travel? I've been in München since Tuesday and am having so much fun speaking German with everyone :) Last night a few of us went out to a bar called the Red Sax--it was a lot of fun although the DJ played a little bit too much Lebonese Techno--and got back to our dorm just before six this morning...fun fun fun!
