wow. i have always tried my best to understand why things happen the way the do....usually i can come up with some reason. but right now i am at a total loss. i no longer know what i should be expecting of myself, and i think i have lost any (or at least most) expectations I had of others. why is that you might ask? because right now i seem to be facing rejection after rejection, and what happened to night just pushed me over the edge. i broke down. i haven't been this upset or cried this hard or been this confused since my uncle Carl died senior year. and now i am pissed because i let myself get drawn in by it all....i didn't remain strong under all the pressure. and so i have let myself down in ways i had hoped would never happen. all i can hope for is that things will turn--i just hope they sooner instead of later.2002-04-20

Tomorrow starts the new season for MIT's open-air flea-market. It is an electronics bazaar that takes place from 9-2 every 3rd sunday from April through October. There are some great deals, and always lots of cool looking stuff. It has all sorts of computer, electronics, and radio transmission stuff. I highly reccomend it to anyone and if you go: the technology group that I help run has a table where we're all getting rid of our extra computer stuff.2002-04-19

ready to bite into that fast food sandwich, but wondering how good it is for you? a quick check of burger king shows that a double whopper with cheese has 67 grams of fat and 1010 calories. if you think their chicken sandwich is any better, think again: 43 grams of fat and 710 calories. mcdonalds isn't much better: its least healthy item is the big xtra with cheese, sporting 55 grams of fat, 810 calories, and more sodium than three super-size fries.
so how did i find this? actually, i was looking for nutrition information about starbucks. not its coffee—its food. quoted in september 10's tufts nutrition news, michele kirsch and angela dowden note, "at Starbucks, a measly 7 oz piece of blueberry crumb cake clocks up 800 calories and a whopping 38g of fat. " how's that for nutrition?
speaking of starbucks… has all its recent advertising led you to believe that it serves fairly traded coffee? actually, it's only served once a month. what a wonderful gesture…screw over hard-working coffee farmers all but one day a month. people, it's time to realize that fairly traded coffee is not a flavor of coffee (as starbucks would like you to believe), but rather it's a way of business. for starbucks (and other companies) to be concerned is wonderful, but there comes a time where lip service is not enough.
now's the time.
